At least 14 people have been killed in communal clashes in Cueibet County, Lakes State.

The fighting started last evening between two sections of youth in a remote village of the county.

County Commissioner Isaac Mayom Malek has confirmed the clashes.

“The fighting left about 14 people dead – 12 from one side and two people from the other,” Michael Makuac reported from Rumbek.

The cause of the fighting has not been established, but some officials there attribute it to revenge killing.
