More than 4,000 people have fled Mundri and Maridi Counties in the past few days due to fear of insecurity, according to Western Equatoria State Minister of Information.

Charles Barnaba Kisanga says most of them have fled to Yambio.

Earlier this week, he issued a statement on increasing insecurity in the state. He said security forces that have been deployed in the state are unlawfully detaining and torturing civilians.

Mr. Kisanga called on the Government to bring stability in the country.

“Many of them have come and stay with their relatives making accommodation problems a nightmare because some people may be they are five in the family and now are up to 20 people,” he said.

Mr. Kisanga said some humanitarian Organizations like UNICEF and World Vision have gone to the areas to assess the situation.
