Former detainees arrive in Juba

A group of the former political detainees has arrived in Juba as part of the implementation of the peace agreement.

They include Deng Alor Kuol, John Luk Jok, Oyai Deng Ajak, Rebecca Nyandeng, and Madut Biar.

John Luk Jok spoke at the airport on behalf of the group.

“We have come home finally -0ur group which is known FDs, as a result of the peace agreement that was signed and finalized in Ethiopia,” Mr Luk told reporters.

“What is left for us is to implement what we have agreed, and therefore it requires that all of us are in South Sudan because this is the place and this is where our people are, so that peace can prevail in our country.”

They were received by the Minister of Information and acting government chief negotiator, Michael Makuei Lueth.

“We highly welcomed our brothers and sisters from the SPLM leaders, the former detainees, who have arrived back home today,” Mr Makuei said.
