Egypt welcomes outcome of Arusha meeting

Egyptian government has welcomed the framework agreement the SPLM factions signed in Arusha, Tanzania early this week.

The document signed by the government, the SPLM in Opposition and the former political detainees, aims at re-uniting the different SPLM factions.

In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it is looking forward to South Sudan achieving similar progress on the path of political negotiations under the regional body, the IGAD.

It says Egypt gives full support to the IGAD mediation efforts.

Egyptian government says it will continue making contacts with all the parties to the conflict in order to facilitate a comprehensive agreement that will bring stability and development in South Sudan.
