German Ambassador to South Sudan says his government has expressed readiness to support development programs in South Sudan once peace is restored in the country.

David Schwake was speaking during the official ground breaking ceremony for a Germany funded urban water supply and sanitation project in Yei

He says due to the on-going conflict, development aid has been redirected to humanitarian assistance.

“Because of the dare humanitarian situation in South Sudan, we have shifted funds from development aid to humanitarian aid over the past few months. But we also believe that development system continues to be important to South Sudan.” The German Ambassador said.

He urged the Government and the SPLM-SPLA in Opposition to commit to the on-going IGAD mediated peace negations in Addis Ababa.
