The SPLA spokesperson has said their position near the market of Bor town has been attacked three times today morning by the former Vice-president Riek Machar forces.

Phillip Aguer told Eye Radio that SPLA forces were able to drive back the attackers.

“SPLA was attacked in Gardiang …north of Bor town 80km, and it was attacked three times and they repulsed the attackers. It was from six, seven and eight. The three attacks were repulsed and the SPLA is searching the area. Definitely there are casualties. We are now waiting to hear what the details of the fight are”, he said. “

“Definitely there is nobody else fighting the government forces; these are forces of opposition”, he added.

An official from Upper Nile state has also reported that fighting is still going on between government forces and the opposition forces within Malakal town.

“The situation within Malakal town still worrying, fighting is still going on within the center of the town. Most of their forces are in the Southern part of the city. Fighting is going on in the center and some parts from where they entered the city’, said the State Minister of Information, Phillip Jibeni Ogal this afternoon.

He added that, “The aim of these people is to loot citizen’s properties, because when they see a cow on the other side of the river, they want to cross but it is impossible because there is heavy force.”

Eye Radio was not able to reach the SPLA/SPLM in opposition for their comments on the situation.

On Thursday Upper Nile state authorities, told Eye Radio that forces loyal Riek Machar had killed civilians in hospitals and churches in Malakal.

The deputy spokesperson of the SPLM/SPLM-in Opposition Yohanis Musa denied allegations saying that Dr. Riek Machar’s forces had not killed civilians in churches and hospitals in Malakal.
