Twenty Journalists in Juba have undergone two-week training on photojournalism and conflict-sensitive reporting.

The course, organized by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO, aimed at narrating stories of South Sudan through pictures.

Some of the participants spoke to Eye Radio during the exhibition of their photos.

“I can tell positive things about South Sudan through what I have learnt in this training; I can express my feelings about my country good things that are happening here,” said Nancy, participant.

“This training, I believe, has equipped us with the necessary knowledge that can help tell stories in pictures,” said Malei, participant.

The Undersecretary National Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Justin Mayen urged journalists to report accurate information.

He says they need to understand the constitution to help them know their rights.

“Journalism is not a crime but what is more important is, journalists always try to give accurate information,” Mr Mayen said.

The photography training was financially facilitated by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
