The government says President Salva Kiir has given permission to UNMISS to transport commanders of the SPLA in Opposition to Pagak for a consultative meeting.

But UNMISS said in a statement yesterday that it would not transport the delegates due to security concerns.

The Minister of Information, Michael Makuei Lueth, says the government will not be affected by UNMISS decision to transport the SPLA in Opposition delegates or not.

“The President has granted his approval for the transportation of rebel commanders from their respective positions to Pagak, where they will go and meet. As to whether UNMISS has transported these people or not is not our concern.” The Information Mister said.

Three weeks ago, IGAD mediators gave the two parties fifteen days to consult on the powers of the prime minister and the system of governance during the transitional period.

The consultations for both parties come after the end of the deadline.
