Luol, Obama meet, talk on Peace Agreement

A South Sudanese Basketball player in the United States, Luol Deng has urged president Barrack Obama to support the recently signed Compromise Peace Agreement.

He met with president Barrack Obama on Friday, to discuss the situation in South Sudan.

According to a statement by the White House, president Obama sought Deng’s advice on how best America can support the recently signed peace agreement.

It says Deng has been engaging the government and the opposition leaders of the United States, to help bring sustainable peace in South Sudan since the conflict broke out.

“Luol has directly engaged opposition and government leaders to lobby for a sustainable peace in the country. He’s leading South Sudanese youth and the diaspora in advocating for unity with his South Sudan Unite initiative,” the statement read.

“That’s why today, he met with President Obama in the Oval Office to discuss the situation in South Sudan”

Deng is presently leading South Sudanese youth rally in Washington DC under the “South Sudan Unite” initiative to advocating for unity in the country.

Luol Deng currently lives in the US, where he fled t as child before South Sudan got its independence from Sudan.

He plays professional basketball for the Miami Heat.
