Northern Bahr el Ghazal state SPLM Women League has called for peaceful registration of SPLM party members, saying registrars should not force anybody to join.

Registration exercise is underway in the state. The aim of the registrations process is to identify party members before the next election, said Awut Kuel Kuel, chairperson.

“The SPLM party is not taking people by force. If you are from a different party or from the SPLM, you can stand with the government, we do not take people by force,” said Ms Kuel.

She also urged the authorities who are conducting the exercise to respect rights of the people.

“I would like registrars to follow what the form says but not to force people because you have been trained.”

According to South Sudan’s Constitution, males and females aged 18 and above are eligible to join a political party.
