Negotiate in good faith, peace delegates told

South Sudan Women Leaders for Peace have urged the warring parties to ‘negotiate in good faith’.

Both government and SPLM-IO delegations are conducting the IGAD-led peace talks in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia.

In a petition to both the government and the SPLM in Opposition, the women urge for peace in the spirit of One People, One Nation.

They say peace means forgiveness and reconciliation.

“We urge all the parties to diligently negotiate in good faith so as to find a permanent and peaceful solution to the conflict,” said Agnes Lasuba, Chairperson for the South Sudan Women Leaders for Peace.

“We remind all the stake holders that nine months have elapsed since the crises began; thereby increasing our anxiety at the current situation and yearning for peace and tranquility as mothers and women leaders of this great nation.”

Eye Radio also spoke to members of the Women Leaders for Peace who matched to Dr John Garang mausoleum yesterday, calling for peace.

“We women of South Sudan are really looking forward for you there, our eyes, our hearts with you on that table to bring us peace, ever lasting peace,” said a member.

Another member told Eye Radio that “we don’t want war again’.

“We call for peace, we call for peace,” she appealed to the warring parties.

The South Sudan Women Leaders for Peace was formed during the crises in the country to campaign against what they call suffering and death.
