NLC expected to hold an extra-ordinary meeting today

SPLM Chairman Salva Kiir has summoned an extra-ordinary meeting of the party’s National Liberation Council to brief the members on the Arusha Agreement.

A statement from the national secretariat says the meeting, scheduled for today, will be attended by members of the political bureau, secretaries and deputy secretaries.

SPLM ministers and deputies, chairpersons and deputy chairpersons of commissions and members of the party’s parliamentary caucuses will also attend.

The SPLM, SPLM in Opposition and the Former Detainees agreed on Wednesday to reuniteand review contentious issues in the party constitution.

The meeting of the National Liberation Council comes ahead of the next round of peace talks mediated by IGAD in Addis Ababa.
