Official condemns police shortage in a NBGS payam

A shortage of police officers in Warawar payam, Aweil East County, has resulted in an increase in theft and crime, an official has said.

He says there are only two policemen who are not able to deal with crime in the payam.

“Nobody knows how to address the crimes that have been committed in the area,” said Santino Deng Yel, payam administrator.

“Therefore, I request the government to help me with the police personnel, to join hand with the few paramilitary police to deal with criminals in the market and in the community.”

Last week, the Director for police in Aweil said that there was a shortage of police in the County and that he would discuss it with the state government.

Attempt to reach the Director for police in Aweil County for comment was unsuccessful.
