A group of women activists is urging President Salva Kiir and Dr. Riek Machar to end the war and bring peace to the country.

The group of women representing Eve Organization for Women’s Development and South Sudan Platform for Peace, said women in South Sudan are tired of war.

The Director of Eve Organization for Women’s Development, Rita Martin, told Eye Radio this morning that women in Juba will submit a petition to the President tomorrow.

The group will organize a peace rally at Dr. John Garang Mausoleum in the morning, and they will hand over a petition to the President, urging him to end the war in South Sudan.

“The summary of our massage to the President is that women are tired of war, and we want him to listen to us,” said Ms Rita.

“Our conditions are getting worse every day. We want to hear from him what he will tell women.”

Hellen Daniel is a member of South Sudan Platform for Peace, she says they want President Salva Kiir and his former deputy Dr. Riek Machar to end the war in the country.

“Our children are being killed and our husbands are also being killed, and we are tired of war that is why we thought it is better we come out and cry in front of our President so that he can bring peace,” she said.

“And we want this peace to be a peace from within, not peace from outside.”

The women representatives also urged the IGAD mediation team to pressure the warring parties to end the conflict in South Sudan so that children and women who are suffering in UN camps can return home.
