The SPLA says it seized more territories in Upper Nile State from the SPLM in Opposition.

Army spokesperson Col Philip Aguer says the SPLA took control of Doleb Hill and Ashab al-Nil in the south of Malakal town.

The SPLM in Opposition overran the areas after taking control of Malakal more than a week ago.

Col Aguer told Eye Radio that the army is trying to keep the oilfields secure.

“The oilfield in Upper Nile is now safe 100 percent and the threat that was looming on it after rebels advanced to Melut has been completely eliminated,” Col Aguer said.

The SPLM in Opposition has confirmed it lost control of the two areas.

Deputy military spokesperson, Dickson Gatluak, says his forces withdrew from the area to try to reorganize.
