SPLA claims retention of Ayod after attacks

The SPLA Spokesperson claims that government forces are in full control of Ayod town in Jonglei State.

Fighting broke out in the area yesterday between the government and SPLA in Opposition forces.

The SPLA spokesperson, Cononel Philip Aguer, says government forces have killed 25 soldiers from the opposition forces.

Among them were three senior officers: Lieutenant Col Manyang Malith, Major Gadkur Dak and Capt Gadik  Jayanj.

“On the side of the SPLA, SPLA did not incur any casualties; we have five soldiers wounded,” said Col Aguer.

The Military Spokesperson of the SPLA-In Opposition forces, Brigadier-General, Lul Ruai Koang, says there are casualties from their side.

However, he said he had no figures of how many soldiers from the opposition forces have been killed.

The Brigadier-General says fighting was still going on in Ayod.
