Urgent need for reforms and accountability

Author : | Published: Monday, November 24, 2014

The leader of the South Sudan Civil Society Alliance says the warring parties should quickly sign a peace agreement to focus attention on reforms and accountability.

Deng Athuai says there should be accountability for the alleged atrocities committed during the conflict and for financial matters.

“We are urging the international community to bring all parties that are divided together to sign peace and to come and do the following; One, to separate the military from politics; Second, to make an accountability to those who commit corruption; third, to bring those who kill the innocent people of all parts in Juba here.” He said.

Deng Athuai said any party that delays the peace process, wants to cover up traces of corruption and does not want to account for it.
