Authorities in Yei River County of Central Equatoria State have been urged Youth in the State to focus on self-economic empowerment and not to relay on Government for employment.

In an interview with Eye Radio, Yei town clerk, Michael Modi Apollo, said the youth should engage in productive income generating activities like agriculture and fishing.

“Others should lay bricks and sell to people to people, this is development. And others will work in carpentry, all these will help you. You the youth the Government cannot create jobs for all of you.” He said.

Augustine Michael, a youth activist, urged the Government to strengthen youth activities by giving them financial support.

“There has to be a political will where the Government comes in support youth activities or youth initiatives. Youth have to be exposed to basic trainings on small business management. The other observation is how youth can get access to soft and credit loans.” said Augustine.
