Police call for child protection during elections
The Head of the Police Special Protection Unit, Major General James Dak, has called for greater attention to the protection and welfare of children during the upcoming elections.
Major General Dak says children are among the most vulnerable members of society and should not be overlooked during periods of increased political activity.
He is calling for more measures to protect children from possible risks linked to election-related activities.
Dak also expressed concern over the graduation and deployment of the Necessary Unified Forces ahead of the December elections.
He says their readiness is a key priority in creating a secure environment for the polls.
The police commander describes the National Police Service as a key pillar of the electoral process.
He says the police have an important role in maintaining law and order, protecting citizens and ensuring a peaceful and secure environment before, during and after the elections.
