Civil Aviation Authority dispatches 10 air traffic controllers for training in Kenya

• • 1 min read

The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority has dispatched 10 air traffic controllers to Kenya for a nine-week specialised training programme aimed at improving aviation safety and air traffic management.

According to a statement from the authority, the training is being conducted in collaboration with the World Food Programme at the East African School of Aviation in Nairobi.

The programme is designed to equip the officers with technical knowledge and practical skills in surveillance-based air traffic control.

The authority said the training will improve the controllers’ ability to monitor aircraft movements, maintain safe distances between planes and provide timely instructions to pilots.

Air traffic controllers play a key role in aviation safety by ensuring aircraft move safely within controlled airspace.

The authority said the officers are expected to apply the skills gained during the training to improve air traffic management operations upon completion of the programme.

The initiative is part of the authority’s efforts, under the leadership of Director General Kat Mosety Monyjok, to strengthen the technical capacity of its workforce and support the development of South Sudan’s aviation industry.
