Greater Pibor administrator urges youth to end violence and recover stolen cattle
The Caretaker Chief Administrator of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area, Joseph Boyoi Ngare, has urged youth in Gumuruk County to end violence and help recover stolen cattle following days of insecurity and retaliatory attacks.
Boyoi made the appeal during a security visit to Thangnyang Payam on Monday. He was accompanied by senior administrative officials, including Secretary Coordinator Baba Panum, Traditional Authority and Law Enforcement Coordinator Gada Ngachallan, and Gumuruk County Commissioner Peter Aburethhi.
According to a statement published by his office, the visit aimed to ease tensions, hear the concerns of affected communities and find a peaceful solution to recent violence involving neighbouring villages and administrative areas.
The caretaker chief administrator urged young people to support community policing by helping identify individuals suspected of organising revenge attacks.
He also called on the youth to help recover stolen cattle and urged traditional chiefs to coordinate the safe return of the animals to their respective villages to prevent further retaliatory raids.
Boyoi said the government would strengthen security operations and work with local communities to identify those responsible for the violence and restore peace.
He added that improved security was essential to creating a peaceful environment for residents to participate in the upcoming general elections and elect their leaders.
Meanwhile, youth in Thangnyang Payam thanked the administrator for visiting the area and pledged to support peace efforts.
They also promised to recover the stolen cattle from suspected criminals and hand them over to local chiefs for safe return to their rightful owners.
