Morobo County appeals to aid agencies to prioritize qualified local youth in recruitment

• • 1 min read

Authorities in Morobo County, Central Equatoria State, have appealed to humanitarian and development agencies to give qualified local residents a fair opportunity when recruiting staff for their operations.

The county’s caretaker commissioner, Moro Isaac Johnson, made the appeal on Wednesday during a meeting with representatives of IMA World Health.

Johnson stressed the importance of allowing qualified young people from Morobo to compete for available positions, saying recruitment should be based on skills, qualifications and professional standards.

His remarks follow complaints from local youths who say they are being left out of employment opportunities offered by organisations operating in the county.

Meanwhile, IMA World Health continues to support Ebola preparedness and prevention efforts in Morobo. The activities include monitoring potential disease outbreaks, educating communities, strengthening infection prevention measures, and improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene services.

Morobo’s location along the borders with Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo makes it a key area for monitoring and responding to potential cross-border disease threats.
