Warrap: Market prices skyrocket amidst fuel shortage

• • 1 min read

Prices of food items in the market have doubled due fuel shortage in Warrap, according to the Acting governor.

Akech Tong Aleu told Eye Radio that the fuel shortage has made it expensive to hire trucks to deliver goods to the state.

Mr. Tong says food items whose prices have doubled include sugar and flour.

“Before, a sack of sugar was 200 SSP, now it is 450 SSP,” he said.

A sack of flour formerly sold at 150, has increased by 200 pounds.

“There is no rice, no lentils and the oil and other commodities in the market in Kuajok.”

Mr. Akech said the available fuel they are now using to run government facilities in the state will finish this month if there is no more supply.
