The Bank of South Sudan has inspected the ongoing construction of the South Sudan Institute of Banking and Finance campus in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State.

The inspection was conducted on Wednesday and led by the Bank’s Second Deputy Governor for Administration and Finance, Weituy Luony Babuoth.

The team assessed progress on the project and discussed implementation challenges with the engineers overseeing construction.

The 26,188-square-metre campus is being developed as a centre for professional education, research, consultancy and capacity building in South Sudan’s financial sector.

It will include classrooms, administrative offices, a library, male and female dormitories, staff residences, dining and laundry facilities, as well as a multipurpose hall and sports facilities.

Construction is being carried out by GS Group Construction Company, with completion expected by the end of 2027.

The inspection brought together officials from the Bank of South Sudan, the Western Bahr el Ghazal State Ministry of Finance, the South Sudan Institute of Banking and Finance and the construction company.

The foundation stone for the campus was laid in 2024.

The institute is expected to strengthen professional skills in South Sudan’s banking and financial sector through education, research and consultancy.

The project is being supported under the Strengthening South Sudan’s Financial Sector Project, implemented by the Bank of South Sudan with financing from the World Bank.

Once completed, the Wau campus is expected to provide dedicated facilities for training and professional development in the country’s financial sector.
