Melut hospital faces shortage of medical supplies

Health authorities in Melut County, Upper Nile State, have raised concern over a shortage of medical supplies at the county’s main hospital.
The shortage is affecting the hospital’s ability to meet the growing demand for healthcare services in the county.
Speaking during an inspection visit to Melut Civil Hospital, the Acting Medical Director, Dr. Zainab Al-Haj, said the facility is running short of essential medical supplies.
Dr. Zainab called for increased support, including the provision of essential medicines and other medical supplies, to strengthen services at the hospital.
“At Melut Civil Hospital, we are one of the only two hospitals operating in the county, and we are facing a shortage of medical supplies. Most of the essential medicines are not available at the facility. We urge the authorities to assist us and provide the necessary support,” she said, speaking to the state-owned media SSBC over the weekend.
The inspection visit by local authorities was aimed at assessing the condition of the hospital, its workflow and the services provided to patients.
