Presbyterian Church leader Rev. Simon Ngor Awijok dies in Uganda

A prominent Presbyterian Church leader, Reverend Dr. Simon Ngor Awijok, has died in Uganda after a long illness.

The Presbyterian Church of South Sudan announced his death in a statement issued on Friday.

Rev. Dr. Awijok died in Kampala after developing complications while undergoing treatment, according to the church.

He served as Vice Moderator of the Equatoria Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of South Sudan.

The church described his death as a great loss to his family, relatives, friends, colleagues and the wider Chollo community.

Rev. Dr. Awijok was widely respected for his pastoral guidance and community leadership, both in South Sudan and among the South Sudanese congregation in Kampala.

The church said he will be remembered for his life, ministry, service and contribution to the work of God and the church.

It extended condolences to his immediate family, relatives, friends, fellow ministers, the Presbyterian Church of South Sudan, the Chollo community and the people of South Sudan.

The church also prayed for comfort and strength for those mourning his death.

Details of his burial and funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
