Booth urges Kiir, Riek to prioritize peace
The US Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan is urging the warring parties in the country to prioritize peace.
Ambassador Donald Booth, made the remark after visiting Jonglei State capital, Bor yesterday together with envoys from Norway and the UK.
Ambassador Booth said people would remain in limbo in camps for the displaced unless the security situation improved.
“Peace remains the top priority, and the only priority,” Booth said, who was accompanied by envoys from Norway and the UK.
He said the international community expects the country’s rival leaders to prioritize peace efforts.
Ambassador Booth says for the U.S. Government peace remains the top priority, and the only priority.
In Bor, the delegates visited the main market, which was almost completely destroyed during clashes in December last years and in January this year.
Ambassador Donald Booth and the Special Envoys of Norway and UK will address a joint press conference in Juba tomorrow.
They are expected to give the views of their governments on the on-going peace talks in Ethiopia.
