Central Equatoria’s Lainya County launches four-day polio vaccination campaign
The Caretaker Commissioner of Lainya County, Hon. Laku Micah Wani, has officially launched a four-day polio vaccination campaign, urging parents and caregivers to ensure that all eligible children under five receive the vaccine.
The campaign aims to protect children against polio and strengthen efforts to prevent the spread of the disease across the county.
The launch ceremony brought together county officials, church leaders, education officials, traditional authorities, community leaders, community mobilizers, security personnel and members of the public, alongside representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO), SUHA and other health partners supporting the vaccination exercise.
Speaking during the launch, Wani commended health partners, vaccination teams, community mobilizers and other stakeholders for their continued commitment to delivering health services to the people of Lainya County.
He urged parents and caregivers to cooperate with vaccination teams by making their children available for immunization, emphasizing that protecting children against preventable diseases requires collective action from communities and local authorities.
Wani also assured vaccination teams of his administration’s commitment to providing the necessary support to facilitate their safe movement to all payams across the county.
He said the county administration would work closely with security agencies, community leaders and health partners to ensure the smooth implementation of the campaign.
The commissioner further called on traditional leaders, church leaders, teachers and community mobilizers to intensify public awareness and encourage families to participate in the vaccination exercise.
The four-day campaign forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen child health protection and prevent polio transmission in Lainya County.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure that eligible children receive the vaccine during the campaign.
