President Salva Kiir has directed various government agencies to coordinate their work regardless of party affiliations.

He said the priority for the transitional government of national unity is to render services and bring development across the country.

“We are doing one thing,” Kiir asserted. “The assignment you have been given is to render services to the people.”

The President warned government officials against insubordination and rejecting views or directives from colleagues belonging to other parties.

“If someone from another party says something and I refuse to work based on [affiliation]…this is where we go wrong.”

The current government is made up of appointees from the parties that signed the 2018 revitalized peace agreement.

It has representatives from the former transitional government, SPLM-IO, Opposition Alliance, Former Detainees, and the Other Political Parties.

The Executive and the legislative arms of the government are led by the main parties to the peace deal.

In his remarks on Tuesday at the State House, President Kiir emphasized the need for unity and cooperation among government officials.

“The public does not care who is delivering the services, they accept services from every party,” he stated.

The President further said there is no time to waste in delivering services to the population.

“We are just wasting time to bring development because the things we said we shall do for our people have not been done. We don’t want it to happen again,” he concluded.

There have been administrative disagreements among state government officials in recent months.
