Envoy Adut: “Further transitions or extensions are no longer subject to negotiation”
JUBA — Senior Presidential Envoy for Special Programs, Adut Salva Kiir, has declared that further political transitions or extensions are no longer open to negotiation.
Speaking at the close of the Inter-Party Dialogue on election-related matters in Juba on Friday, October 9, 2026, Adut Salva Kiir emphasized that the transitional government remains firmly committed to holding general elections.
The envoy stressed that the country must now move from consensus-building to executing constitutional mandates.
“Peace is not just an agreement between political parties but a pact made with the citizens of this nation. As this forum concludes its deliberations, we must transition from consensus building to execution of our constitutional mandates,” Adut stated.
“The presidency maintains a steadfast position. The democratic timeline of this nation is absolute and further transitions or extensions are no longer subject to negotiation.
“This dialogue was never designed to be an arena for political grievances or fresh power sharing disagreements. Its objective has been to establish a binding consensus on a peaceful and credible path forward towards a political dispensation.”
The envoy outlined four vital pillars to secure a credible vote. These include protecting the legal framework to ensure judicial systems handle disputes with absolute integrity, and driving administrative and logistical preparations so the National Elections Commission operates with flawless precision.
Adut added that the third pillar involves accelerating security arrangements across all states to guarantee the safety of voters and public order, while the fourth is utilizing dialogue not for fresh power-sharing grievances, but to solidify a shared national path.
She urged leaders to return to their institutions and execute these directives immediately to keep the country on track for a peaceful democratic dispensation.
