The South Sudan Football Association is appealing to well-wishers to help it raise more than 107,000 US dollars for the national team to participate in the Africa Cup of Nation qualifiers.

The amount will be used for accommodation, transport, feeding and other needs of the Bright stars.

South Sudan is supposed to play against Equatoria Guinea on Sunday in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers in Equatoria Guinea.

The Secretary for Finance at the SSFA, Charles Odio, says they had requested the money from the government but the budget has not been approved.

He said if the Bright Stars fail to participate, South Sudan will be at risk of suspension.

“We may be suspended for one year,” Mr Odio told Eye Radio.

Meanwhile, the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Agum Rin, says they are waiting for the parliament to approve this years’ budget so that they can provide the SSFA with the amount.

She called on the body to look for an alternative source to provide them with the money which will be refunded.
