Governor Sharif suspends two state ministers

The Governor of Western Bahr el Ghazal State, Sharif Daniel Sharif, has suspended the state ministers of Information and Agriculture, according to a statement from the Governor’s Press Office.

In gubernatorial decrees issued on 24 July, Governor Sharif suspended Information Minister Samuel Nicola Cornelio and Agriculture Minister Valentino Akech Akuar from office until further notice.

In separate decrees, the governor appointed the Minister of Labour, Public Service and Human Resource Development to oversee the Ministry of Information in an acting capacity.

The Minister of Finance, Planning and Investment will temporarily head the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Forestry.

Governor Sharif also directed the suspended ministers to immediately hand over all government assets and official responsibilities to the acting ministers.

The suspension orders took effect immediately after they were signed by Governor Sharif Daniel Sharif on 24 July 2026.

The statement from the Governor’s Press Office did not provide reasons for the suspensions or indicate how long the ministers would remain out of office.
