Koang: Caretaker cabinet to be smaller, no lobbying needed

The caretaker governor of Upper Nile State, James Koang Chol, says the state’s interim cabinet will be a small administration, with between five and seven state ministers expected to be appointed.

Speaking on the formation of the caretaker government, Koang said there would be no need for lobbying for positions, saying he was already familiar with officials from across the state.

“This government is a small administration; there is no need for lobbying. I already know all of you what else do I want, so no one will have to tell me who is who again,” Koang said.

He said the caretaker government could comprise between five and seven ministers, while urging those who may not be appointed to remain supportive of the administration.

“There might be five or seven state ministers. Even if you do not find your name, stay with me,” he said.

Koang said he plans to travel to Malakal next week to form the caretaker state government as the country prepares for elections.

“By next week, I will go to Malakal to form the small caretaker state government as we wait for you to contest in the elections,” he said.
