The Commissioner of Morobo County in Central Equatoria State says the county has produced enough food to feed the residents of Juba.

Commissioner Stephen Soro said farmers in Morobo have harvested enough cassava and beans to supply other areas in the state.

Commissioner Soro told Eye Radio’s Dawn Show that Morobo urges traders to purchase farm produce from Morobo.

He said the area is safe to travel by road from Juba.

“Forget about Uganda now, Morobo can supply Juba,” said Mr Soro.

“We have plenty of food. We just need people to come. The area is secure, there’s no problem, people can travel freely and now of course there is no insecurity in this part of the country, so you are free to come and take food from Morobo to Juba.”

Commissioner Soro said Morobo and Yei River County can support people in Juba in terms of food supply.

Morobo County, in Central Equatoria State, borders the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.

The UN says 90 percent of South Sudanese territory is considered suitable for agriculture.
