Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH), is providing emergency medical care to more than 20 people wounded in reported drone strikes around Amiet Market in the Abyei Special Administrative Area.

The wounded were taken to MSF-supported Ameth Bek Hospital, where medical teams are providing emergency treatment, wound care and surgical services.

Dr Christian Lindauer, MSF’s Medical Activities Manager at Ameth Bek Hospital, said the hospital had received more than 20 patients, including several in critical condition.

“So far, we have received over 20 patients, including several critical cases. Patients with burns were also admitted. We are providing surgical services and wound dressing, along with other emergency care,” Lindauer said.

MSF expressed deep concern over the impact of the reported strikes on civilians and the safety of people seeking healthcare and other essential services.

The organisation called on all parties to immediately stop attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure.
