Nilepet distributes 50 trucks of fuel to filling stations

50 trucks of petrol and diesel are being distributed to petrol stations today to reduce fuel shortage, the Managing Director of the state oil firm, Nilepet, Joseph Cleto says.

There has been a shortage of fuel in Juba and other state capitals for the last few weeks.

A liter of petrol that sells at 6 Pounds at the refilling stations rose to more than 100 Pounds on the black market. Public transport was also affected.

Mr. Cleto says the public transport vehicles and water tanks in Juba will now start refilling at Nilepet while private cars will refill at other stations.

“This issue we are tackling with other four countries depending on the same pipeline: Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, and south Sudan. This is troubling,” said the Nilepet boss.

“There are so many reasons, but the obvious and most important one is that this fuel, we get it from Kenya. Sometimes you do not get fuel because it has not reached Mombasa.
