Pibor gets six new classrooms, public latrine

Three newly constructed community facilities have been handed over in Pibor town, including six classrooms and a public latrine, to improve access to education and public services.

The facilities were inaugurated on Monday by Greater Pibor Administrative Area Chief Administrator Gola Boyoi Gola during a ceremony at Pibor Girls’ Primary School.

The projects include two classrooms at Lukurnyang Mixed Primary School, four classrooms at Pibor Girls’ Primary School and a public latrine at Pibor Market.

They were funded by the World Bank through the National Government’s Project Management Unit and implemented by the International Organization for Migration.

Chief Administrator Gola thanked the partners and contractors for completing the projects despite security challenges.

He urged residents to take ownership of the facilities and ensure they remain clean, operational and protected.

“So this facility is ours. It is ours to make sure it is operational. It is ours to make sure it is clean. It is ours to make sure it is protected from all sorts of things.”

Gola also called on the national government and residents to contribute to the development of Pibor, saying the town needs collective efforts to grow.

He urged parents to enrol more children in school and encouraged local development committees to continue involving communities in identifying priority projects.
