South Sudan, Kenya deepen Cooperation on Border Security and Immigration
South Sudan and Kenya have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation on border security and immigration management following high-level discussions held in Nairobi.
According to Kenya media reports, the talks took place during a courtesy meeting between South Sudan’s Minister of Interior, Aleu Ayieny Aleu, and his Kenyan counterpart, and Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen.
The Interior Minister, and Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary explored ways to enhance collaboration on matters of mutual interest.
The two officials emphasized the need for stronger coordination in managing the shared border and improving immigration processes to facilitate the smooth movement of people and goods between the neighboring countries.
They also highlighted the longstanding ties between Kenya and South Sudan, which are anchored in trade, historical relations, cultural exchanges, and strong people-to-people connections.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by both governments to deepen bilateral relations, promote regional stability, and strengthen cross-border cooperation for the benefit of citizens in both countries.
