UNMISS launches water plant in Terekeka
The United Nations Mission in South Sudan has launched a water plant that is set to provide the community in Terekeka County with clean water.
The plant is being used to manufacture water filters.
The Executive Director of the county says many young people have been trained on how to make the filters that will purify water.
Elias Loate told Eye Radio that the project aims at reducing water-borne diseases which are common after consumption of contaminated water.
“… It is really very important because when these filters are produced, each filter takes about two jerycans of water and they have made all around about three hundred containers which have already been distributed to the households here in Terekeka”, he said.
He said that over three hundred households in the area have benefited from the project.
Mr. Loat urged the local residents to make good use of the filters.
