Yei begins road rehabilitation works
The road rehabilitation is expected to ease transport challenges and support local economic activities in Yei River County.
Authorities in Yei River County have started rehabilitating roads to improve movement and reduce road safety risks in the town.
County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo launched the rehabilitation works along the Yei–Maridi Road, which is being constructed by local firm Point Investment Company.
Malimbo said the works will improve the movement of people, goods and services.
He said communities in Yei River County have long called for better roads to support local trade, access to essential services and movement across the county.
Emeritus Bishop Hillary Adeba of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan Diocese welcomed the initiative, saying improved roads could help reduce accidents and make travel safer.
The county administration says improving infrastructure is part of its efforts to support development and improve service delivery.
