E. African leaders discussing S. Sudan crisis

Leaders of four East African countries are meeting today in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, to discuss the South Sudan peace process.

They will also discuss regional security, especially the threat of Al Shabab militants in Kenya.

The leaders include President Salva Kiir, Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, Huru Kenyata of Kenya and Paul Kagame of Rwanda.

Ateny Wek Teny is the South Sudan presidential press secretary.

“So they discuss how the community can put up against those crises and how to strengthen their economic size with each other in order to expedite development in the region.” He said.

Mr. Wek says the leaders will also discuss the application of South Sudan to join the East African Community in the one-day summit.
