President Salva Kiir has called for peace and unity as he resumed official duties for the year 2026 this morning after the Christmas and New Year break.
The president arrived at the State House, where he was accorded a guard of honour and received by senior government officials, including vice presidents, ministers, and officials from the presidency.
“The Head of State called on the population to renew their commitment to peace, unity and hard work in order to deliver services Nationwide. He lauded the citizens for their resilience in the face of difficulties, reaffirming his administration’s firm resolve to addressing the complex issues confronting the nation,” reads in part the statement issued by the Office of the President on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.
In a statement published by his office, President Kiir urged citizens to recommit to peace and unity to promote stability and improve service delivery across the country.
He also praised the people of South Sudan for their resilience and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing the challenges facing the nation.
