Juba tells IGAD to delay visit of SPLM-IO advance team
The government has asked the SPLM in Opposition to delay the visit of its advance team to Juba until the 26 November.
The official spokesperson, Michael Makuei, says the government is yet to complete the necessary preparations to receive the team.
Last week, both sides announced that the SPLM-Io would be in Juba mid this month as part of the implementation of the peace agreement.
Mr. Makuei says the government has not received the list and the exact date of arrival of the team.
He told Eye Radio at the presidential guest house today that they have notified IGAD of the need to delay the visit of the SLPM in Opposition for more than a week.
“The most appropriate time will be on 26 of this month so that when they come here they will find that we have done all the necessary preparations for them, including accommodation and mobility,” Mr Makuei said.
Mr. Makuei said the heads of states and government of IGAD plus will be holding a summit in Juba on Saturday.
He said the regional leaders will inaugurate the office of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission after their summit.
