Governor Adil approves Yei Civil Hospital as regional referral hospital

• • 2 min read

Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has approved Yei Civil Hospital to serve as a Regional Referral State Hospital, in a move aimed at expanding access to specialized healthcare services.

The decision followed the governor’s visit to the hospital, accompanied by State Minister of Health Joyce Bakwa Agole and other state officials, to assess service delivery and challenges facing the facility.

During the visit, the governor received briefings on gaps in hospital infrastructure, staffing, medical supplies and other essential services.

He also met health workers and patients, who raised concerns about challenges affecting healthcare delivery and access to treatment.

Governor Adil emphasized the need for professionalism, accountability and quality patient care. He directed relevant authorities to work with the State Ministry of Health and the hospital administration to address the challenges identified during the assessment.

The upgrade is expected to strengthen Yei Civil Hospital’s capacity to provide specialized services to patients from Yei and other parts of the Greater Equatoria region.

The decision also places greater responsibility on state health authorities and the hospital administration to improve infrastructure, staffing, medical supplies and other essential services needed to support the hospital’s expanded role.

The move is part of Central Equatoria State government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve access to essential and specialized medical services across the state.
