Ex-NBGS minister detained over corruption allegations
The Former Minister of Finance in Northern Bahr al-Ghazal State, Ayii Bol, has been arrested over corruption allegations.
Mr Bol says he has been accused of stealing more than 8 million pounds (capitation grant).
However, he denies the allegation, saying he has documents proving that he was not in the state when the money was spent.
He spoke to Eye Radio from a police station via phone.
“I have produced the evidence that when the money came in May, I was in Kampala and I had assigned former acting minister,” Mr Bol said.
Mr Ayii said he had been in police custody since Friday. It’s unclear when the former minister will be arraigned in court.
