Governor Adil leads Juba cleaning campaign

The Governor of Central Equatoria, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, on Saturday led a city-wide cleaning campaign in Juba as the state government began implementing its directive for regular Saturday cleaning exercises.

This follows Governor Adil’s declaration of Friday as a cleaning day.

Governor Adil joined traders and residents in collecting waste during a two-hour exercise from 7 to 9 am.

He urged citizens, businesses and institutions to take responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean.

The campaign was also carried out by Juba County officials and staff in Kuburi Haboba Market, Gueri, Lemon Gaba and Kapuri.

Juba County Commissioner Samuel Emiliano Wani Pitia led the county exercise.

He said the activities are part of the governor’s directive to keep Juba clean, green and safe.

The County Administration called on residents, business owners, Quarter Councils and community leaders to take ownership of the campaign and maintain cleanliness beyond the weekly exercise.

It also urged residents to protect public drainage systems and support efforts to improve waste management and public health.

Governor Adil said transforming Juba into a clean, green and safe capital requires collective responsibility and sustained public participation.

The weekly campaign covers residential areas, markets, streets, drainage channels and other public spaces.

Authorities are urging the public to make cleanliness part of their everyday civic responsibility.
