Juba county launches solar street lighting project along Bilpam Road
Juba County has launched a solar street lighting project along Bilpam Road aimed at improving road safety, security and public infrastructure.
The Caretaker Commissioner of Juba County, Moulana Kalisto Lado Faustino Nyigilo Wani, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday.
The project is being implemented by Light House General Trading and Investment Company Limited, which has pledged support for the county’s development plans.
Speaking during the ceremony, Lado described the initiative as an important step towards improving security and modernising infrastructure across Juba County.
“I am here to serve our people, not just to sit in the office. This is only the beginning, and we intend to extend street lighting to other roads across Juba County,” he said.

The commissioner also warned motorists against reckless driving, saying anyone who damages a streetlight pole would face a fine of 5,000 US dollars and three months’ imprisonment.
“We are not joking with the developmental project of the country,” he said.
Lado called on residents to cooperate with the authorities and support development initiatives funded through public resources.
He also urged residents to support the leadership of Central Equatoria State Caretaker Governor Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani and President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
The county administration says the project is part of broader efforts to improve infrastructure and extend street lighting to other roads across Juba County.
