The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the University of Juba says he needs about 400 million U.S dollars to restructure the university and construct new facilities.
Professor John Akech said the plan is to build more campuses and equip the university with research centers to improve the quality of learning.
In exclusive interview with Eye Radio’s Dawn Program, Professor Akech said the university needs to be upgraded to a modern standard.
“We have a master plan to build huge facilities with car parks, recreation, lecture halls and laboratories,” he said.
“That will cost something in the region of 400 million U.S dollars. That plan is there, but the funding has not been secured.”
Professor Akech said the plan is to also to improve services at the current university campus in Juba.
Professor Akech also said that he plans to rebuild the university’s compus at Bilnyang -at the Eastern part of the Nile River.
