President Kiir commends Greater Pibor for maintaining peace

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has commended the people of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) for upholding peace among themselves and with their neighboring communities.

The President reportedly made the remarks on Wednesday while receiving a detailed briefing from the Chief Administrator of GPAA, Gola Boyoi Gola, on the current state of affairs in the area.

Speaking to the office of the President’s press unit , Chief Administrator Gola said local authorities have been actively engaging the youth on the importance of peaceful coexistence among communities, describing the initiative as key to sustaining stability in the region.

On the forthcoming general elections, Gola said the people of GPAA are ready for the polls scheduled for December this year. He noted that preparations are underway to ensure a conducive environment for the smooth conduct of the elections.

The Chief Administrator further highlighted that GPAA is endowed with abundant natural resources and appealed to the national government to invest in the area, particularly in the mining sector, as a means of boosting economic growth and contributing to national development.
