Rabi declares for SPLM primary to become CES governorship flag bearer

Former Central Equatoria Governor Rabi Mujung Emmanuel has submitted his application to contest the SPLM primary election for the party’s flag to run for Governor of Central Equatoria State.

Mujung says he registered with the SPLM on Tuesday using Form 3 as a candidate for the party’s internal primary process.

He says the winner of the party congress vote will become the SPLM candidate for the Central Equatoria governorship in the forthcoming elections.

“What you saw on television is true. Throughout this period, people from our community, both from within the state and from outside, have been urging me to run in the election. I listened to them and acknowledged their desire for me to stand,” Mujung said.

He said he decided to respond after the SPLM announced that those interested in contesting should pick up application forms.

“Eventually, the SPLM, my political party, announced that those interested should pick up the application forms. So, on Tuesday, I went to the SPLM Secretariat and registered specifically using Form 3 as a candidate for the party’s internal primary stage,” he said.

Mujung is also calling on supporters in Central Equatoria to mobilize at the grassroots level and participate in the electoral process.

“I will ask the people of Central Equatoria State to give me the opportunity to serve, so that I may assist the people of South Sudan,” he said.

Mujung, who previously served as Governor of Central Equatoria State, said he would outline his vision and priorities for the state in due course.
